Hi! my name is Morgan Dickens and I was born and raises in Jacksonville, Florida. I have one daughter who just turned 6 years old. I have a background in Criminal Justice, Human Resource Management, and Business Administration. Oh, and let's not forget.... a MAJOR IN FASHION! I currently work for the city of Jacksonville. I am the Executive Assistant to the Chief of the Municipal Code Compliance Division. I love shopping, traveling, and creating memories with my mini me.
How did Vanity Rose boutique come to be? Can you tell us about the inspiration behind starting the boutique?
Vanity Rose Boutique was inspired by my daughter, Vanity Rose. As my boutique approaches its sixth year, I reflect on how it began. I launched this business as a way to cope with severe postpartum depression after her birth, seeking an outlet to occupy my time while at home. Additionally, it was a means to rediscover myself amidst the challenges of becoming a new mother.
What are some of the challenges you face as a boutique owner and how do you overcome them?
All business owners face ups and downs. By that, I mean one week having multiple sales and another week, nothing. I have run into several different obstacles over the years. The first one is finding quality Vendors. I had to do a lot of research when I first started my boutique to find the " right fit" for the looks that I was going for. I focused on shipping time, quality of material, and price for each vendor that I sampled. Over time, you find one that aligns with your budget and style. There are several other challenges that I faced, such as funding my own inventory, time management, and online shipping.

"Fashion is the ultimate form of self-expression, and I wear my passion proudly."

In your opinion, what does it take to run a successful and sustainable boutique business in today's competitive market?
In order to run a successful and sustainable business in today's market, you must be consistent. Consistency is KEY! I tell anyone that. Next, being open-minded. By that, I mean not letting your losses disguntle or disappoint you into quitting or losing faith in your business. Be accepting of feedback and critique from customers and/or other business owners. Be willing to make adjustments, where needed. Another suggestion I would make is to be patient. All great things take time.
Can you share any future plans or aspirations for Vanity Rose Boutique?
I plan on expanding my boutique by creating a 'Boss Babes' line of clothing for all of my working ladies out there who need professional attire, but want to look sexy and chic at the same time.
